Welcome to the Kent Kidney Patients Association (KKPA), established in 1986 to support Kidney Patients in Kent. We are a non-profit charity, run by a great team of volunteers, providing financial support, specialist advice, guidance and access to further information and resources for kidney patients and their families, friends and carers.
We partner with East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust (EKHUFT) supporting both the patients and NHS staff at the renal units below
Ashford, Canterbury, Dover, Maidstone, Margate & Medway Hospitals.

Who we are
Inspired by life-changing events, the Kent Kidney Patients Association has become one of the most trusted and effective charitable foundations in the area, working hard to improve the lives of those in need of support.
We are here to offer our help, support & guidance to kidney patients and their families as they navigate their emotional and at times traumatic journey living with chronic kidney disease.

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust (EKHUFT)
Working closely with EKHUFT, we support patients and staff at the renal units in Ashford, Canterbury, Dover, Maidstone, Margate and Medway Hospitals.
During the course of a year we provide many services; from tidying up the NHS staff gardens so they can enjoy a well-deserved break in the fresh air, making sure pets are looked after in kennels if a patient has an unexpected stay in hospital to spreading a little comfort and joy at Christmas time by providing gifts, decorations and party food to patients on dialysis.
Who we work with
Although we are an independent local charity, the KKPA come under the umbrella of the National Kidney Federation (NKF) and together we believe that kidney patients and their loved ones deserve to lead fulfilled lives with quality care and choice.
Kidney Care UK is another charity supporting kidney patients across the UK and are a great resource. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or a long term kidney patient they provide information on the many aspects of kidney health - including dialysis, kidney function, and transplants.

Spreading the word about human kidneys and just how amazing they are.
Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Charity provide support to patients, carers and family members. They fund innovative research, publish reliable information about ADPKD and ARPKD and organise educational events.
We're all part of the wider renal community
Kidney Research UK Kidney disease affects three million people in the UK, treatments can be gruelling and currently there is no cure. Only research will end this and nobody can do it but us, by offering kidney patients and their families hope for the future.
The UK Kidney Association (UKKA) is a new organisation created to support the whole multi-professional team (MPT) in the delivery of kidney care, education and research, enabling people to live well with kidney disease.
It has been formed by a merger of the British Renal Society (BRS) and the Renal Association (RA) together, as a new single organisation.
The British Transplantation Society The BTS is actively involved in developing national policy; commenting to the media on all issues relating to organ donation and transplantation; and, of course, developing the scientific, clinical and ethical practices that we all work to on a daily basis.
